Yes, not new. But the request for the Honda Pilot has been encountered more than once in the comments to other articles. As a result, I took the car for review - and it was not in vain: a spacious interior, good equipment, a fairly comfortable ride and a powerful engine. Suddenly, but the Honda Pilot took shape: an unassuming, but practical and thoughtful crossover for a large family. And that's why.
The Honda Pilot crossover is one step higher than the Honda CR-V: an always powerful V6 engine and a 7-8-seater cabin - the model was originally designed for the US market. The first generation Honda Pilot debuted in 2002 as a 2003 MG version, the second generation appeared in 2008. The current car is the third generation of the model: its debut in 2015, the start of sales in Ukraine at the very end of 2016. In the summer of 2018, the car was updated in the USA: a different front end (new bumper and full LED h Honda Pilot 2018 Touring AWD Gray eadlights), an enlarged center display in the cabin, a new steering wheel and instruments. However, the version of the Honda Pilot for our region will come to us earlier in the spring of 2019, and it will not change so much.
The world already knows three generations of Honda Pilot - and the essence of the car has not changed in each: almost 5-meter length, 3-row interior, powerful engine. In the summer of 2018, the Honda Pilot for the United States received a number of changes in appearance and in the cabin, but the versions for our country will change less and will come to us, at best, only in the spring of 2019.
The Honda Pilot's behavior can be summed up in one phrase: "It's a pleasure to roll, not to rush."
Of course, the powerful V6 engine is surprisingly able to spin up to high revs, where it sounds great and accelerates the car quite well, regardless of its weight. However, it is much more pleasant to just roll at low and medium revs, without raising the tachometer needle above 3 thousand rpm: the degree to the face of the Honda Pilot. In this case, you begin to appreciate the silence in the front of the car: double-layer side windows, excellent sound insulation of the engine, quietness in the wheel arches - a very high level! And it is comfortable: the suspension absorbs well the road "trifle", medium and even large irregularities. By the way, the unhurried passage of speed bumps can cause a noticeable kick, but there is no longer a "flight" of a large hole or an influx on the road: as a result, the rule "more travel - fewer holes" works. Although it is still not necessary to fly too much on the Honda Pilot: during emergency decelerations, the car strongly “bites its nose”, and sharp turns mean large rolls - after all, a high body plus a soft suspension.
The appearance of such a huge, kind-hearted uncle - and the character is similar: a leisurely confident step very much to the face of the Honda Pilot. He does not like the city rush, but at a long distance along the highway - the most "it"! The motor is good for its quietness at low revs and sufficient power during dynamic acceleration. The ECON mode somewhat hides the sharpness of the response to pressing the accelerator pedal, but there is no frank "vegetable" here. The automatic machine at the same time pleased and upset: it changes gears on time and quickly, gives a "low" L-mode (useful for mud or engine braking), but sometimes noticeable slight twitching when changing gears, especially when driving fast.
The steering allows more than 3 revolutions from lock to lock, which again means slow maneuvers. For example, if at a low speed you quickly swing the light steering wheel 90 degrees to the left / right and return it back, then the car will only sway on the soft suspension, but continue moving along its lane. You should work at the helm a lot, clearly showing this "tanker on wheels" where to go. But if you have chosen a trajectory in a turn, then it is difficult to disrupt it from the intended arc. Perhaps the pits ...
And this is where the remarks about the car begin. Firstly, the work of the rear suspension and the rear part of the body in general: when driving on a bumpy road, the unloaded rear occasionally throws up, and the body rattles a little. It seems that the reason for this is the carrying capacity of the car of 650 kg (the suspension had to be made harsh) and the large "box-like" body. But if you load the ca
