New Laptop Dell Latitude E7450 8GB Intel Core I5 HDD 500GB

Broadwell for business. The 14-inch Dell Latitude E7450 now includes the latest 5th Gen Intel Core processor with all the benefits that come with it. Which ones are important for a corporate environment, and what else does this laptop offer useful for it? The release of new low-voltage Intel Broadwell processors is a great reason to launch new laptops or update existing ones. Dell went the other way, updating the 14-inch Latitude 14 E7450, previously offered with Haswell low-voltage processors. This is an expensive laptop designed for corporate users, so the requirements for it are the most stringent. Let's check if he answers them. Massive and tight metal hinges securely hold the screen in any position. Design is far from the main thing for a corporate laptop. On the contrary, the stricter it is, the fewer stupid questions will be addressed to the owner. Therefore, the E7450 looks very discreet: all surfaces are black and matte, nothing shines or stands out. But the quality of the case construction cannot be called anything other than first-class. It should be noted  New Laptop Dell Latitude E7450 8GB Intel Core I5 HDD 500GB right away: the case is not machined from a single piece of aluminum, like the Apple MacBook Retina or Asus N550 / N750, but all the individual parts are perfectly fitted and made from high quality materials, including magnesium alloy and other metals. The workspace on the front panel is finished with a soft-touch coating - of course, it gets dirty quickly, but it is very pleasant to hold your hands on it. We did not find any easily squeezed areas on the case, and even the screen lid pleased with decent rigidity. The hinges perfectly hold any opening angle up to the maximum (180 degrees). According to Dell, the laptop meets the military MIL-STD-810G standard, and after getting to know the case, we had no doubts about that. The only thing missing is the rigidity of the lower half of the laptop - it should still be rated as very good, but with some effort it can still bend slightly. Taking all of the above into account, it is surprising that the laptop weighs only 1.64 kg and is only 19.4 mm thick. The E7450 is the perfect companion on any business trip. Like many business notebooks, the E7450 offers exemplary maintainability. To access the internal components, simply pull out the battery and remove the two screws holding the large cover. There are many interesting things under it: two RAM slots, a 2.5-inch SATA bay, a wireless module and a free M.2 slot for a 3G or LTE modem. The antennas necessary for its operation are already installed, so it is not necessary to buy a configuration with a pre-installed modem - you can add it yourself. Access to the fan is unrestricted, so cleaning is easy. If you are working in a dusty environment, it should be done at least once every few months. Even if you are not going to upgrade and repair your laptop yourself, simple access to the components will greatly simplify the work of any technician servicing the E7450, which means you will get it back much faster. Full access to all components (click to enlarge) For system recovery (preinstalled with Windows 8.1 Pro), an 8 GB USB drive is provided. This is convenient, since the laptop does not have an optical drive, and theoretically allows you to reinstall the OS on another drive installed in the laptop. The preinstalled software includes only a few Dell applications for system management and system backup. There are no trial versions of various unnecessary applications, as well as antivirus - everything that is needed is up to the buyer himself. Those wishing to install Linux will be glad to know that the E7450 is officially certified to work with Ubuntu 14.04 and in some places you can even buy it with Ubuntu preinstalled. Most likely, other modern versions of the main Linux distributions (Debian, Mint, ArchLinux) with kernel 3.16 and newer will go. The location of the ports is thought out perfectly: most of them are brought out to the rear side, so that it is convenient to connect the laptop to peripherals at work and at home. Two USB 3.0, mini-DisplayPort and HDMI video outputs, gigabit Ethernet - you can connect external drives and a mouse with keyboard, as well as one or two monitors (including professional high-definition, thanks to DisplayPort). To quickly connect basic accessories, you do not have to fiddle around, unfolding the laptop: there is another USB 3.0 port and an audio jack on the right, and an SD card reader and smart card reader on the left.
