The type B socket adapter is designed for devices with any type of plug: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N.

Type B outlets are grounded and are used in North and Central America, Japan (See below for a complete list of countries).

Attention: The adapter does not convert voltage. Make sure the voltage at the outlet matches the specifications for your device.

The type B socket is designed for a plug with two flat parallel blades and a round grounding prong. The grounding rod is longer than the other two, so the device will be grounded before connecting power.

As with Type A outlets, the American and Japanese versions are slightly different. Although the US and Japanese plugs appear to be the same, the neutral pin of the US plug is wider than phase, whereas on the Japanese plug, both pins are the same size. As a result, Japanese forks can be used in the US, but often not the other way around.

Each pin on A and B plugs has a hole that fits into the contact plate of the receptacle. Thus, the contacts are fixed more rigidly, which prevents accidental loss of the plug from the socket. Some of the more modern receptacles have a spring mechanism that grips the pins tightly, making pin hole technology obsolete.
